New Rim and Tyre Setup Help - 285/70R17 on OME 2ïnch

Currently own a 2015 Overland and after last weekend my tires are shot.

Looking to replace my current stock setup (Overland stock 18" Rims and 255/70R18 ) with 17" Rims and BFG KO2 285/70R17.

My Wrangler currently has a OME 2" Lift (by recollection it was about 1.8" in the front and 2" in the back - will need to confirm)

The questions:

1) Is there any issue going from the stock 18" to 17" - My belief is that its the same brake system between the Overland and sport that there wont be an issue reducing the rim size. Is this correct?

2) Will 285/70R17 be too big for my lift. This is my daily driver with the occasional off road weekend. I'm worried about any rubbing. I've heard mixed comment's from being the perfect tire and size to there being rubbing on when full turn. I was wondering what people's opinions were that use this
same setup? How do they preform off road?

Ran 285s on stock 17s with a 2" factory mopar lift with no real issues (tiny bit of rubbing) for a few years.

Yep will be no probs. I currently have 285/70/17 Muddies on stock rims with 2" lift on my 12 JKU no probs at all.

Do you know what offset rims you will be getting?

I run 285/75R17 KM2's, on stock 17 alloys. Prior to that I had 285/70R17 K02's. Both sets rub on the rear, inside of the tire up high against the body. Its very minor and of no concern. Fronts like to eat the sway bar when its disconnected at full lock regardless of where I tie it away, ways around this though. And not in issue with the sway bar connected.

So assuming the offset you get doesn't sit the tire in any further than the factory rims you should be fine.

As for the lift, it should have no effect on the size of tire you can fit unless it has oversize bumps, in which case you are loosing available up travel....

I run 285s on stock 17"on OME 2" kit. Fits fine. A little polishing of the sway bar links when new at full flex but only noticed it on close inspection. All good

17" will clear the brakes but your wheel offset will determine if it will rub and clear the sway bar links. What wheels are you looking at?
