Default WK2 alternative rims & tyres to std

Hi All,
I'm new to Jeeps and need advice.
My Laredo is due in a couple of months fitted with the std 265 x 65 x 18 Kuhmo (road tyres).
Most of my driving will be on road so no biggy. However for couple of times a year touring (Great Central rd, Gibb river etc) will need something a bit tougher. Contemplating a a set of the new Coopers that are now available but on a complete set of different rims. 16's or 17's with the appropriate O/A diameter close to standard (775mm). Just switch over when the need arises.
As anyone done this and if so do you have any suggestions for rims available for my GC 2012? Do Wrangler wheels fit? Off the shelf steels / alloys?

Any advice appreciated

Cheers
Thommo

Hi thommo, I have a 2013 wk2 limited and found the stock 20's and khumos were a poor choice in sand. From what I could find out 17's won't fit due to brake clearance issues. My solution was to get a set of 18's steel spare wheels from the dealer - asked and got $200 each which with Mickey Thomson STZ have made a huge difference. They look a bit old school compared to some of the split rim bling available but was about my only choice price wise and in maintaining stock size there are no issues with insurance or police etc.... Good luck finding a solution. Dave.

Send Stu at Murchison Products a message (website or facebook), He's setting guys up on the east coast with some better priced wheel & tyre options. He's also on here as CRDSTU

+1 for Scarps suggestion of Murchison Products.

Have a talk to Stu as he has done 17's on a WK2, so you are not necessarily limited to 18's.

Have a search around tyre shops near jeep dealers . Some original 18" alloys around for good prices . Dealers swap them out when new & tyre shops have them around till someone wants them, so you can haggle if they have a few sets.
Seen some 2014 alloys on Ebay for $155 a rim , they quoted me $25 a rim in freight to brisbane . Found mine heaps cheaper locally
