Question Fluid on air intake hoses

Has anyone experienced this before or know of what maybe causing this??
There is alot of fluid/oil on intake hoses into intercooler and from intercooler into manifold.
I have checked all around but the is no apparent leak from other hoses and the fluid is only confined to theses two hoses. All around is clean from fluid ???????

My first guess would be oil blowby if it is only the intercooler hoses. How it's getting out not sure unless your clamps are not tight enough and just letting the smallest amount of boost out or if the hoses are old and it's weeping through the walls but this is unlikely. Suspect your intercooler and manifold will be full of oil as well.

Blowby in a modern turbo diesel is common, hence oiil seperators.

Yeh might try changing the hoses. Somewhere down the track put a catch can in.
Does the intercooler ever need cleaning out and how???

Mine does it - can't explain why, but not uncommon and not a problem over 180000kms and 8+ years.

I just replaced my hoses with samco hoses. The oil does stuff them up and they end up splitting. I added a catch can from autobahn and funny no oil in it so far. Look for my photo in what have you done to your jeep today thread.

Those catch cans from autobarn have nothing in them to trap the oil and hence do little. You might find the oil is simply getting blown straight through the can.

Oil build up in the cooler will gradually reduce its efficiency as the oil costing the inside walls reduces the contact of the air with the walls and hence there is no heat dissipation. The only real way to clean it out is to remove it and slosh degreaser through it, good rinse and good blow dry.

Because I tow a heavy boat(3.35T) I thought I better fit a Provent oil seperator to my WH a few months ago, filtered out about 1/3 of a coke can of oil in that time that would have returned into my intake and intercooler.. I'm pretty happy with the investment of the Provent now thats for sure..

search using provent for more info
