Default Melbourne Fishing

Hi all,

I moved from Perth to Melbourne about a year ago. I was wondering what are the best spots for fishing around here? So far I have been to Mornington pier and Lorne. Haven't had the best luck but keen to find a few more spots not that summers coming up

What sort of fishing do you like mate, salt or fresh?

If freshwater is your go have a look here, great if you have kids or just want to wet a line and catch a feed! http://www.depi.vic.gov.au/fishing-a...trout-stocking

If your a salty, this time of the year i'd be hitting up the surf beaches for salmon. Once the weather and water warms up then i'd be giving Mornigton pier through to Mt Martha rocks a go.

Port Phillip bay SSW off Mornington (or almost due N off Dromana ramp) go until you reach the inside of the commercial shipping lane and the depth drops kind of quickly from 15-22m.

Red Snapper. Big 'uns.

You will likely not be the only boat out there. Wave to the really tall bloke out there by himself with 5 lines in the water. Likely my father-in-law

Nice! Thanks for the tips guys! I don't have a boat yet unfortunately but I reckon I'll hare one a few times this summer out at Mornington like you said NTRubicon.
I'll check out some of those fresh water spots too lrnut. I haven't fished freshwater in years so it would be a nice change.

There are quite a lot of places for fishing in Melbourne. I'm trying to work out the places too.
