I bought my GC a day after the recall so I've instead organised a Hayman Reese as I need to tow within the next 2 weeks. Will be about $1050 fitted through TJM.

I fitted a front tow hook from Chief Products to the left side in about 20-30 mins.

I assume you guys are talking about tow bars not just the balls.

No. My response related to another post which suggested that after market tow balls are only 2500kg rated. In fact after market balls rated 3500kg are available. Yes, the bar should also be rated 3500kg (which should also be stamped). Both my bar and ball are after market and both are 3500kg rated & stamped.

If I go ahead and buy this demo Laredo I've been looking at, I'll be in the same boat. Is the Hayman Reece setup compatible with the Jeep's sway control?
And did you have to remove the front lower fascia or cut holes for the tow hook?

I think it's compatible but you'd need to check with HR.

I only had to pop the cover off the fascia to fit the tow hook. I also removed one screw out of the wheel well liner so I could access the rear bolt. A ratchet spanner makes the job easier.

I went in to the local Pedders store to discuss having a Hayman Reece towbar fitted as the Mopar one is not currently available.
They told me that the HR towbar is still 'under development ' for the 2017 model.
That's thrown a spanner in the works for me, because no use buying a new or near new car if I can't tow with it!
We are going to WA at the end of next month, so unless i've been told a load of bs, it looks like I keep the WH a bit longer and wait till later in the year to upgrade.
Jeep dealers are going to be losing sales for people in my situation if they don't sort it out quick!

The fact that Jeep Australia have not acted on, or alternatively not been provided with, advice of changes to the monocoque pan is laughable. The situation is yet another indication of the disfunction of either the local operation and/or their relationship with the US parent. If there's even one traveller stuck at a caravan park unable to move on, the fallout will be significant.
