Superlative.

Also, might I add, smartarse... No, good work Marcus.

Heart in mouth moment when I saw the front of the roof, after you wheeled it.... excellent result.

Fascinating! This thread has become my evening read. Went through the first 40 pages in one hit yesterday... it's almost like binge watching a tv series... just quickly scrolled down this page to express my appreciation for the time and effort you spend in not only producing an extraordinary piece of art but also the time you spend in updating this thread feeding the hunger for updates of a loyal audience...

Love the look of many oldtimers, they just have a character that most of our modern cars have no hope of competing with. Been saying so many times: why can't they just put modern engines and luxuries into old body styles... - well, you're doing it, good on you, so far seven years in the making, what a mammoth project, I appreciate the perfectionism and patience you put into this! Thanks for sharing.

Did some more work on the front piece and can see how much it has come down. Sitting pretty flat now when before it was 30mm-1 3/16" up in the middle.

Just drops into the gutter now.

Close up of the centre bead I hammered in by hand.

Now to join the front and sides. Need to stretch and reduce the radius slightly at the ends to raise it so it doesn't dip in the middle.

Still has the wedge shape to it even after I have reduced the front by 25mm-1" and the rear by 40mm-1.5".

Just need to weld the front corners up and do the final shaping and planishing before the centre goes on.
Not sure if to fully spot weld the perimeter on before welding the centre infill panel in, or just heavily clamp it and weld it there so it can be taken down to dress the welds afterwards? Don't want it to change shape at all where it fits into the gutter after all this work is my main concern.

Your awesomeness is beyond!

You'd have to make it float and fly to out do yourself, Marcus!

Beautiful profile.
Sorry, I don't have any idea how to finish the center of the roof.
If you welded it in, would it be too much work, to hand planish the welds. That would be the entire circumference of the roof. A lot of hammering.
Hmm.

Probably got 4+ meters of hand planishing to do so will be hard on the arms. Fortunately I have trained myself to hammer both left and right handed, so swap hands as one gets tried.
I'll clamp it all down for the tacking and see if it doesn't move under the clamps. If fine will go on and weld the lot but still leave it clamped to do the roughing out of getting it back into shape and only do the detail work off it.
