Next question... and sorry for hijacking the thread a little here, but how is the actual lifted height measured? Do they take a tape measure and measure from the ground to a particular point on the vehicle?

How do we know the exact height of a stock JK, or what height would a cop use to determine lifted height?

As we all know, a lift sold as a 50mm lift could be 35mm or it could be 75mm above stock. and Tyres could say 33" but measure an actual 32.5" or 33.9" for example.
The official way to measure lift height is to measure from the centre of the wheel to the top of the wheelarch. This can then be compared to the measurement supplied by the vehicle manufacturer as part of the original ADR compliance approval.

You can find this info by searching the approval number on the compliance plate at RVCS.infrastructure.gov.au

Yep, the above is what is specified in the Federal database on vehicles...which you can find on line.....its just a pity that isn't how Jeep measures the ride height....which is a bump stop measurement.
Its also a useless measurement if you're running aftermarket flares....

Love my Trail Grapplers.
Only done 15,000 km on them, should get close to 50,000 km out of them.Mostly on rock.
Run at 8psi on normal rims, no bead problems.

Seems unfair us diesel owners start at a height disadvantage though!
