Fuel overflow.

This seems to be a new one for the 3.8.

Lately whenever I fill the fuel tank, if I am not really careful, as it gets nearly full, the fuller seems to burp & spew fuel back up the filler & out.

I'm thinking I probably have a blocked breather tube somewhere...

OK, so what I can see so far is that there is no kink or damage to any of the lines. There is the main filler tube, ok. The breather which goes from hard to flexy and back to hard, all ok. And the line from the tank to the cannister & up to the void behind the filler is also ok.

I cannot yet figure out how to get the breather off the tank fitting to check it for blockage, though. Anyone know how?

Try changing fuel pumps..... Maybe their cutoff is not working properly......

It's happened a 3 or 4 times now at different stations.

I don't stick to the same brand, let alone station or pump!

It does sound like the breather has fuel in it.

From memory there is a plastic clip down near the tank for the breather you need to press in both sides together to release the clip. Then you can work the joint loose.

There's also a valve in the tank for vehicle roll over. this may have gotten stuck and not letting the breather work.

Ah ha! That could be it. Have to go looking, but it won't be a 5 minute job!
