Default Turbo not working?

This morning I noticed a drop off in power and a red warning light in dash like reversed brackets with a z flash symbol between. Does this mean my turbo isn't working?
Otherwise still running smoothly, but no grunt after 2500 rpm

The hand book says on page 70 item 22
Quote:
Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) Warning Light - If equipped (5.7L Only)
You need to get a OBD II reader and get the codes.
Worst case scenario is the "Swirl Motor Fail".

If you have a smart phone get an app like REV or Torque Pro, on ebay get ELM327 interface
I have one of these and it works with iPhone.

There is a mod that disables the swirl motor but I don't know if it will work after it fails.
Have a read here

The swirl motor disable does work when the motor is dead, that's what it was designed for. It simulates the load of the swirl motor tricking the ECU into thinking it is still operating.

Thanks for the info guys. I am still a bit in the dark as far as understanding what the swirl motor does. Doesn't the turbo run off exhaust pressure? The car drives like it has no turbo at all. Going to be interesting today as I have to take my caravan in for servicing (2.4 tonnes) and one hill I can't avoid.
Yesterday drove over a hill it usually takes at 100kmh and it was struggling at 75!

Swirl motor had nothing to do with the turbo. Have you checked for air leaks in the turbo plumbing.

Thanks Clarky, I'll let you know what the dealer says. Of course they won't want to know about the easy fix!
Just for your interest, I towed the van into town but slow! Had to keep engine on 2000rpm for torque; no horsepower!
And funnily, after engine had been off and restarted, all as normal for about first 30 seconds before ETC light comes on, then no turbo!
Does this sound like the swirl motor?
