Yeah, in the US it won't be airbag compliant because the crush cans are missing. For us, not a problem because we don't have them. Our airbags are controlled by the accelerometer under the centre console.

So in theory, you could take off the crush can housings on an AEV bar here and mount the tow hooks - providing the appropriate mounting hardware and bits are there to take the strain.

Especially like the tow hooks... guess they won't fit on my "normal" AEV front bumper..
From the spacing of the bolts for the tow points, it looks as though it would be a straight swap if you took the crush cans off the standard AEV bar... You can buy the tow points separately too!

(I'd probably check with AEV before shelling out the $$$ though)...

Might fit ineeded.. but..
From my memory the the crashcans on the normal aev bar are not directly mounted to the frame of the car... so don't know if this is such a good idea.

howdy folks, just thought i'd throw in my two bobs worth on the matter. when i got my 08 rubi it had the mopar tube bar fitted, and to be frank it was gayer than christmas. i have just replaced it with the tjm t3 bar after much research about warranty and insurance issues. the tjm bar was $1230 supplied and fitted, fully adr compliant and has the airbag crash cans so as not to affect warranty or insurance. it has two good recovery points, two hi-lift t slots and light and antenna mounts as well as being a full on winch bar. not bad for the $$ they are asking.

G'day Busta but that's not right . Australian delivered JKs with factory bumpers do not have crush cans at all. There is the deformable front section of the chassis and then the inner bumper is flat mounted with a plastic bumper in front of that.

The US factory bars do have crush cans as part of the inner bar.

The only exception to this I think is the MOPAR bar(s) which some people have gotten with the accessory value packs, but then again these are after-market albeit factory endorsed. I'm pretty sure that these bars do have crush cans (can someone who has one confirm?)

For instance the AEV bar has the cut outs for the cans and according to AEV's instructions to fit the crush cans to the bar, they are cut from the existing bar.

So IMO it is a bit of a stretch to say that TJM have crush cans when the factory bar doesn't. Maybe what you meant was that it is airbag compliant? This only means that it has been tested or modelled to show that the bar does not adversely effect the deployment of the airbag system.

Yep under the big square plasic things on the front of the MOPAR bar are ribbed cylindrical crush cans.

i stand corrected. all i was meaning was the bar is airbag compliant. as the rubi is still under warranty i have been very careful to only make "approved" mods. i have also done this in the vein hope that when, not if, i finally drive off a cliff or some stupid thing, my insurance vultures are less likely to tell me to go fornicate myself.
