I have a 07 5.7 grand . You have to be really soft on the go button to get anything better than 15L per Hundred K average. On a straight flat road at 100KM/h you will get at best 12.9 as soon as you drive round town you will be up to 17 plus.
You will only get 400k on a tank full of 60L

We have travelled 3000 km in our GC Limited (3.6 pentastar) and happy so far. Driving from SE Qld to Rockhampton on or about the speed limits the car used about 9.8 litres per 100 km. I am sure that I'll be satisfied pulling my 2 tonne trailer with it.

Biggest problem with any cars is keeping them too long.

our last jeep was a 2004 just sold it with 90,000km, normally sell them at 40,000km.

This was not even in the running.
Glad you decided to avoid the Prado. Its a terrible car for the price.

I drive one for work and is sucks. The previous model was much better.

I think most people buy them for the badge. They are nothing special and handle like crap, slow as a turtle and are pretty offensive to look at.
Best part was the other day I got about 7.8L/100kms on the highway from the 2.3 ton, 4 cylinder turbo diesel.

Even with all it's shortfalls it still seams to be the most popular new 4x4.

Best part of keeping a car a long time is the money you save in my opinion unless you've got a lease deal.

Work out how much you spend updating a car every 40,000, and then decide if you're better off taking the risk of keeping it and spending money on unexpected maintenance now and again.

Since when is 90K alot of KLM's? that toyota example, 300K would be alot - I'd reasonably expect you could get to 400K (know two actually that are at 400K and 550K respectively, the later had a gearbox replaced under warranty at 25K and that's it)
Things have changed, used to be a car with less than 50K wasn't really run in yet

Makes me wonder. When is an engine considered 'run in'

I saw a LandCruiser for sale that had 130,000kms on it. The guy I work with said, "It's like new, not even run in yet"
