Default 2011 Grand Cherokee - Yes or No?

Hi All

I've been a happy Prado owner for the past 7 years and not being happy with Toyota's present offering I recently began a trek of exploring the 2011 Grand Cherokee, Limited & Overland.

I've test driven both and have been impressed. Tossing up between the V6 Pentastar and the 5.7 Hemi.

All the reviews I have read have been quite positive with only 1 common complaint being the limitation of the 5 speed transmission, though this is not enough to turn me away.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Also.......can anyone please explain why and Overland comes to US$50k inc onroads in the USA whereas down they're going for +/-A$75k?

Seems like a huge chasm in costs particularly given the A$ is so strong and the free trade agreement with the yanks.

The cost to ship a Jeep in a 20' container would come to approx A$2500 (our business ships freight and vehicles overseas for many and varied clients so shipping is quite an easy task for us). It would be even cheaper for Jeep with the contracted volume shipping on a roll on / roll off basis.

AFIK the free trade agreement only covers the tariff, not tax, duty's and GST. %5 duty +GST on the total (tax on tax) LCT on vehicles over aprox $57000 + GST( tax on tax on tax). Motor trade license (tax). Company tax aprox %30 ( USA company tax aprox %15) Payroll tax, ect.ect.ect.

the v6 will be cheaper to run and own but you'll probably kick yourself for not getting the Hemi. I know I would (but I'm a tightarse)

The 5.7 is a very nice ride and gets about 10 litre per 100 Klm on the highway real time.
Darn sweet car to drive too.

My concern with the 5.7 hemi fuel economy is city driving.
I had a hemi in a Dodge Durango when I lived in the middle east and never got below 20lt/100km although with 98 octane at 27c a litre I didnt care much for economy and I sold it before I had 5000km up
