Finally managed to get my murchison intercooler installed. Was a bit of messing around but not too bad. Not for the faint hearted but definitely doable if you are handy with spanners. Took me about 6-7hrs total being that I had to rip my Chief lower front guard and sump plate off too.

Only got to take it for a quick test run last night. Initial thoughts are my intake temps were much slower to rise when on boost and something weird I noticed but can't explain is my intake seems quieter. I have an AFE pro dry CAI and the induction noise is very noticeable. Now with the cooler fitted it seems much quieter and I have no idea why.

True gains on the cooler won't be known until I get a tune, but that won't happen for a while

Similar to a undersized return inlet on ducted system the air noise is quite noticable due to the restriction, now it can breathe properly and no noise. Well thats my take on it.

Good job in the install, looking forward to your seeing your results on temps, etc.

Yeh I have taken it for a good thrash up the freeway today to make sure all my clamps are tight and my initial thought of it being quieter is not entirely true. I drove around with the radio off and there is definitely a bit more noise. I put it down to all my intake pipes being ali, the entire cooler is ali (no plastic end tanks like on the factory cooler) with minimal silicone joiners.

Charged air temps were heaps slower to rise though so happy so far. Misses took it for a drive and never said anything was different either so that is a bonus.

How to judge a good mod.....

Wife - "What have you done to my car, THIS time?"
Me - "Ummm nothing. Just made it better than Jeep can."
Wife - "Really? How did you make it better?"
Me - "You will see or won't see."
Wife after a drive - Was I meant to see something?"
Me - "Nooooo"
Success!

Default What did you do to your WK Grand today?

Well I didn't do much to my Jeep today, but I'm busy doing something for my Jeep. I got hold of a set of 18" rims that were in need of some attention. Still busy sanding down the scratches and repainting them. The plan is to use them as a cheap set for off-road.
