Well I just took delivery of the MY2013 Jeep Wrangler Overland just over a week ago.
Very happy with the purchase but I did feel unneasy about possibly switching to the Rubicon because overall the price is almost the same with the Rubicon being only slighly more expensive.
The dealer was great and was even happy to change my order to the Rubicon even though my Overland had arrived.
Decided to continue with the Overland because there was no delay. There is a wait time of up to 12 months for the Rubicon. Also, the missus preferred the Overland as a more practical option for a city 90/4WD 10 option. More comfortable for her and I can still mod the vehicle to my liking.
Plan to add a tow bar, bull bar, snorkel, and winch. Eventually will change the tyres to Coopers and give the the vehicle a 2-3 inch lift.
Could easily add lockers as well if I want to and replace the D30 front suspension.
For our use, I feel the Overland is a better vehicle than the Rubicon. Also got it for a good price at $49,500 (can't go wrong). This saving should pay for a couple of my mods and the price differance between the Overland and Rubicon will pay for a couple more mods. It is just a case of working out which mods will be of most use.
Bottom line is, the Overland is terrific and it keeps the wife happy. I recommend it to anyone as I would recommend the stock Sports allowing for future modifying.
I think ot is a lot more comfortable in the city and on the bitumen which is where we spend most of our time, and it still is more than capable of taking you just about anywhere. With a couple of mods, it can exceed the Rubicon's capability even.
