Bodgie, I agree 100% on the fact that the difficulty of undoing the filter depends on the previous mechanic.
I will check the wrench size later tonight and report back. Mine almost skips on the cover but that might be because of a worn filter cover

If anyone has a link to the oil filter socket on eBay or the size and spec's that would be great, thanks.

76mm 14 flutes is the one I bought. Search for "76mm oil filter tool" and you'll find dozens.

If you go to this eBay site and check compatability it will tell you that is not suitable.

Jeez, did you search for the most expensive one on eBay or something?!

I just checked my eBay history. The actual one is no longer listed, but it was 14 flute 76mm. eBay took me to "similar items" here: https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/sis.html...72.m2749.l2658

Sometimes the eBay car part selection gets is wrong with the WG CRD.

Ha, no, that was the only one that had a vehicle compatibility check thingy. Given the 76mm 14 flute suits many of the Mercedes models I though there was a good chance it would fit but I'm still learning about the WG so wasn't sure that was the right spec. AND eBay is always right yeah??

Thanks for the links, the savings will pay for the beer while I do the service.

The oil filter tool is actually 74mm 14 flute, it also suits the Mercedes M113 engine series.

Here is an eBay link to the brand i have, even though the picture shows the incorrect size.
