Default 265/70R17 - fit a WH?

Hi

Will a 265/70R17 fit on the standard rims without rubbing if the vehicle has had a 50mm OME lift?
Does this size wheel & tyre fit in the existing spare wheel site without problems?

Thanks

Check out JeepForum.com, (WK forum) Faq's will answer your first question and there is a reply on fitting a larger spare on page 4. Cheers Baz.

Ginga, a few tips -

The search tool on this forum is an excellent utility.
Keep your search string short (fewer words) and scroll through the relavent information looking for your vehicle type.

I typed in Mickey Thompson and then looked for articles relating to Grand Cherokees, hope the below link helps.

The discussion was "can or can't you fit larger tyres".

Try and be more specific whan asking a question - state your vehicle's mods so that those who read it are more likely to help you, & not dismiss your request as being too difficult.

In this case there were two answers, if you have a Heavy Duty OME lift yes, if you have a Light Duty OME lift - possibly yes or no!

Good luck with the new tyres!

((265 x 0.7 x 2)/25) + 17 = your 265/70/17 tyre height in inches.

= 32's.

So yes with a lift but will rub slightly at full flex. - do it.

I got 32's on my ZJ with about 3 inches of lift, ive chopped the shit out of the wheel arches to mke em fit, best thing ive done.

They are not quite as tall but I have fitted LT265/65R17 BFG AT's I have had to trim the bolt and it is still close. Here are a couple of photos just after they were fitted. I have had no rubbing at all with these tyres and no lift

Thanks everyone for the helpful replies.

I haven't been able to determine IF the 265/70R17's will fit in the spare wheel 'well' - they are 2.1inches greater in diameter than the standard 245/65R17s - so will ask the tyre supplier to check this aspect first.

I also am 'worried', despite everything that has been read & said, about the extra width of the 265's in terms of the bolt that needs to be cut back - but hey, we can but see.
