Exclamation Annoying Common Repairs

Here everyones chance to pass on their knowledge of repairing stupid annoying little things. such as;

Seat belt retractors - my drivers side belt no longer wants to play the retract game and I'm losing patience. Any ideas or is it replacement time.

I have seen something mentioned / posted previously but can't find it. help!

Not Retracting or Not extding after retracting?
If the won't extend its probably just crud in the ball/cap mechanism.
1. Do NOT.....repeat do NOT open the side that says "Don't open"......
2. If you can't remember what rule #1 is buy a new unit now....
3. The other side CAN be opened, cleaned & reassembled.

Running dry! Give it a squirt with the long tube fitted to a Inox Lanox Lanateck lanolin based product..Just think of the thousands of times it has worked with no lube..Do the door catches,hinges at same time..I can't hack squeky car door hinges..Hate to admit it,but I have had visitors arrive with terrible squeaks,grinding noises as they step out of car..I have come down later on and lubed their hinges but never told them..Least I felt good.Good machines deserve good service..He's sic

That beepy thing on the XJ is a buzzy noise, not sure what else it does, but I just found it under the dash and unplugged the noisy forker.

And i have just removed those ugly stickers from the sunshades (you know, those that tell you that you might die if you roll the car over and such). Just pour boiling hot water on them and they peel right off and easily too!
