Yay.... after 26 months off the road, several thousand dollars, hundreds of work hours, engineering reports and inspections, the old girl is finally... back on the road..
Now the fun part starts of getting it ready and then fine tuning it for offroad trips..
Stay tuned!!
Cheers,

Cheers fella's.
Nearly broke my back last night getting her sorted for some serious offroading. Those skinny tyres have come off, and something a little better for beach driving has been added.
Pics soon...

Not quite, but better than what was on there. Upgraded suspension and wheels are on! I added 4* shims to the back springs thinking that would get the rear pinion a few degrees below the drive shaft (i have a double cardan and SYE), but i actually ended up with the pinion 2* higher than my drive shaft.... so the shims have to come back out. It's going to be a bit of playing around getting all the vibes out...
Pics of the rig down at the beach tomorrow...
Cheers,

Replaced the pinion angle wedges with 1/2" polyethylene blocks to remove the high pinion. It is now lower by 3*. I think i need some 2* pinion leaf spring shims to get the pinion within about 1* below the driveshaft. It drives OK, and there are no vibrations, but there is some driveline noise i have to track down. This noise was worse with the engineered lift i had.
Anyway, drove down to the beach, but they have closed it to jet ski's and 4wd's. Take away any fun!!
I took some pics anyway of the XJ in its new finished state. There is a bit of fine tuning to do here and there, but she is just about ready for whatever i throw at it.
Cheers,
