Default iridium & platinum????

Looking at giving the XJ a bit of a birthday probably well overdue new leads rotor cap n plugs etc.
Was wondering if anyone has tried the iridiums or platinum plugs in there I6, with good results?
Brother in law recently put some in his falcon 6 of similar vintage with great results, better economy and power nothing over the top but enough to notice.
Found http://sparkplugs.com while searching on here and prices are quite good just wondered if anyone had tried iridiums etc

Slow down guys, don't try reinventing the wheel, these are 1950,s tech engines as advised use the recommended champion plugs they work they last well and no expensive plug is going to make thes old tech engines run any better.

If you really must mess with it I have had good results using a " screaming deamon " coil and gaping the plugs wider.

No better economy no better performance maybe better starting and ideling.

By the way thats 19 years experience with my xj your hearing, so yep I have a slight idea what I'm talking about

it may be a dinosaur engine design, but the electronics/ ignition is a little bit newer design.....
No, its not always about any extra performance as such...

1/ Iridium plugs longevity is far superior to standard.....I have iridium plugs in the wife's car, 200,000klm and still servicable.

2/ Its well noted finewire plugs are superior to standard plugs.

but......dont mean they will work in the XJ.....does'nt have individual coils for starters.
