Default Another Aussie retail rip off

A bee in my bonnet - Aussie retailers who think we are / treat us consumers like mugs.

The guy from Monster lights was on this forum a while ago justifying how you must pay more for quality etc and how he only supplies quality.

Well if you look at the LED dimmer unit he sells for $50 and compare it to the one I got off EBay at $6 - it is IDENTICAL. Except for the 800% price mark up! Oh - he does supply a sticker I suppose...

I mean really - now and again I feel guilty shopping around but that feeling is fading fast. I did ask him how he justifies the mark up but he was unwilling to discuss. Needless to say I won't be buying the lights I need from him.

start a thread about banks , fuel companies , power companies , councils
and insurance companies as they are the biggest rip offs on the face of the earth
and will rort you way harder than any parts retailer ever will yet most people say
nothing about the thousands they get ripped on but whine over a few bucks for a car part .

Forgive me - I thought this was a forum about cars / car parts etc - not all those other issues.

I'll keep whining over 'the few bucks' - the few bucks are starting to add up.

PLEASSSSSSEEEEEEE, guys/gals you have to remember that in Australia ( the country you live in ) that we are part of the ASIA pacific. Please remember you are ASIAN, as much as you hate to belive that but as an australian you are an ASIAN!!!!!

So when you order parts we are grouped with the AsiaPacific, that also applies to all your suppliers in AUS, so hence they also cop the chargers for shipmet. That is presuming they are ordernig from ASIA, if they are ordering from the US the ball game changes completelty, you can blame the AUS government for that.

The charges from the US are completley different from the ASIA pacific, unfortunately the Jeep market is not from ASIA so we cop the extra charges for import. DOn't WHALE on your local dealers, WHALE on the AUS governtment.

I am with you on this one dblaj.
You gotta shop around.
I don't mind people making a little money here & there, I just don't like people ripping others off saying its a good price. Crap! Loose my vote.
There are lots of people in business doing this!
I beleive in high volume & a small profit on each item rather than small volume & a HUGE profit.
Silly me!

Quite right to have a whinge about the disparagy in prices.

Had a similiar issue with a sensor a while back.

Bought one in Sydney from an EFI mob a coupla year back and it was $150.

Exact same item direct from the US ... about $60/$70 + freight

Last year to buy it in Aust ... $350 from the same EFI mob and yet ... still $70 + freight from the states ...

Wasnt really their fault ... They had stopped direct importing ... it was all the greedy importers and handlers - between US suppliers and the final point of sale in Aust.
