Sounds like all the other (relatively rare.) reports of dropped valve seats.
Consensus seems to be after shutting down hot, the head/seats exceed their operating temp due to heat-soak (no coolant is circulating.). The valve seats are powdered and expand less than the head, so they loosen.
Then if you start the engine while still "heat soaked", the valve can drop.
It's common for powdered seats to have a retainer nowadays for this reason.
It's got me pretty worried, especially wheeling with our young kids, since it's not exactly something I can do a trail-side bodge to get home.
Atm I just try to leave the engine idling for a while before shutting down, and then try to avoid re-starting it for a while. But I recon electrifying the cooling system with a shutdown delay would be the best protection.
