So your saying your turbo vents off quite a bit with GDE tune , I thought they say it only does it if you are boot in and spooled up and suddenly back off as the only time the GDE tune blows off through the EGR.
Interesting, makes me wonder if there is a real chance of damaging the turbo without the EGR valve in place.

OK, the stock software has that spooling up overboost bleed function in it as well, in fact
that is the only part of the EGR function that GDE retains (the rest of the EGR valve opening programming is deleted by GDE). With just the stock software, the EGR is used to bleed the spooled up overboost into the exhaust (via the round the back engine pipe), but it also opens the EGR at al sorts of times to inject all that crap from the exhaust into your inlet plumbing (hence the oil mist, particulate matter lines your intake body, FCV, etc.)
If, and only if, your running the GDE software, you can easily convert your EGR valve to just dump the spooling overboost to the atmo, just don't block off the EGR valve exit port (in my case I have kept a little short (2") stubby section of the original pipe to direct the pressure away). I cleared this with Keith at GDE before I tried it. BUt obviously if your running stock stock software, or potentially other non-GDE software, any chance of that EGR valve being opened (when not bleeding spooling overboost) is going to ruin your drivability by potentially causing lost of boost at other times.
