Electric fan direction - PLEASE HELP!
Hi All
I've just replaced my electric radiator fan because the old one was stuffed.
Anyway, I'm just about to put the new one in and of course, I've forgotten which direction it needs to go.
Which side is meant to face the front of the car, and therefore radiator; the exposed blades side, or the 'covered' side? I have attached photos of what I mean by this.
I checked the old fan for screw marks indicating which way it is supposed to go on (i.e. I can see 'imprint' from the washers). This method leads me to think it is exposed blades face front. HOWEVER.....I was testing the new fan worked prior to putting everything back together and it seems that the airflow seems to get pushed towards the 'covered' side. That would mean that, with the exposed blades facing the front of the car, all the airflow would get pushed towards the engine block, not the radiator. Does this sound right? I would've thought the whole point of the 'radiator' fan was to cool the radiator, not the block.
I'm so confused. Can someone please clarify for me?
