Default Body Control Module replacment

Had a search on the forum for Body Control Module but nothing came up. Well some 320 threads did but nothing with BCM in the header.

The Auto electrician has said that my BCM is failing, symptoms are lights staying on in the interior, intermittent electronics failure on the interior ( power windows, AC and seats etc... ).

Now it could be the door jam wires but I can't see any damaged wires.

Has anyone done a replacement? It is going to a dealer to get diagnosed properly.

cheers
Brett

Do the door wires first if they havent been done because the always fail eventually and they can be broken inside but look OK on the out side. Its best to just replace the wires with a new piece where they do all the flexing. Also its not just the driver door that can have this problem.
PS, just reread your post and saw the bit about the dealer diagnosing the problem...could cost a lot of money if you dont do the door wires first. Goodluck and let us know how you go.

I second the recommendation of repairing the door wires in the drivers door first.
I had a WG petrol that developed BCM faults including air conditioning failure and window failure which was caused by damaged conductors inside unbroken wire insulation of the door wires.

so because I am not that electrically minded and on the Advice of an auto electrician, took it to the dealers who no longer have the scan tool to run on a WJ. Manual search and bingo - Drivers door wires.

and yes it did cost me a bit of cash.

Glad you got it fixed.. Time and again we see these faults to turn out to be a simple problem of one or two wires in the mostly drivers door. Thats why it makes sense to check or even replace the front door wires first and see how it goes. Good luck and have fun in the Jeep.

Cheers Mate, it is in a weird space where a mate is driving it while I have no licence. Looking forward to driving it finally.
