I've never had a problem with the headrests, in fact I don't recall ever rubbing my head against them when driving normally. Maybe you need to look at your driving position?
In answer to your question though, yes you could swap them if you find a vehicle with similar spacing.

Disparity? I wasn't aware swapping out the head rest would be against the ADR's, hence why I threw the question out there. One of the great things about this forum is getting/sharing advice/opinions with each other, as I stated in the thread you are making reference to, I am not an Engineer. I will have to do some research on it and contact VICROADS tomorrow for my own clarification.
IMO, there is vehicle safety as well as ergonomics to consider and I don't think Jeep took the latter into as much consideration when designing the seats. After my recent trip this weekend, I found the head rest to leave me feeling uncomfortable, with a sore upper back/shoulders and caused fatigued as well.
I don't think driving position is the only variable to take into consideration, but agree it could be a contributing factor. Sounds like you are one of the lucky ones who aren't troubled by the head rests
