Default Friction modifier!!

Hi guys, I have recently had my diff oils changed and asked them to put the correct oil in along with the correct friction modifier additive..

There seemed to be some confusion with the mechanics as they said the oil already has friction modifier in it?

I thought it was an additive done seperate to the oil? So just thinking maybe I could get the FM from somewhere and add it myself to the new oil... the reason all of this has been done is because of a groaning moaning sound when turning only coming from the rear that happens on start up and eventually goes away!! and I was told that without the correct FM this is a a symptom of that?

If this is a possibility to add this myself my question is which FM do I use?

Most of the usual brands at super cheap have the friction modifier already in them. It will be pretty clearly marked on the bottle

In the past i think ive used the penrite stuff with no problems

I use Caltex or Penrite 80w-140 without problems, both have limited slip additive already.

The genuine Mopar oil requires the separate FM.

But like the others guys say, a lot (or most?) of us use high-quality fully synthetic "LSD" (pre-mixed with FM.) stuff with no problem. I use Penrite Pro Gear.
But there are plenty of cheap "LSD" oils that would be inadequate.

Did it stop the moaning/groaning noise?
