Default Maxxis Razr at811

Hi all, I noticed these on a Landcruiser today and I thought they looked pretty good. Anyone here using them? Just after some opinions. Thanks.

I was looking for tyres for my wrangler a few weeks ago and my shortlist came down to Maxxis MT772, AT811 and Kenda KR601. The AT811 is fairly new so there's not many reviews as yet, only 3 so far on tyrereview.com.au compared to 76 for the MT772. Also not much on Youtube apart from Ronny Dahl just fitting them to his new Hilux project.. Based on the reviews for the MT772 and given the AT811 is newer it's probably a safe bet.

My brother in law has Kenda KR601s on his Colorado and he loves them. I've learnt either to stay a fair distance behind him or drive in front as they have a nasty habit of flicking up stones. They are so bad, inside the cabin all you hear is constant pinging where they are bouncing off the under side of his vehicle.

Thank god I’m not interested in these.

That's very funny - I read a lot of reviews of the Kenda and the comment about flicking stones was quite common!

There were also a lot of positive comments on the US Jeep forums, so given that I was able to get a set of 5 for $250 each in the size I wanted (33x10.5r17) that's what I ended up with. Haven't been offroad as yet but I'm very surprised how quiet they are on road and how well they grip in wet and dry.

Please no more Kenda reviews. Just interested in the Maxxis tyres. Thanks.

I can't personally comment on the Maxxis but I was looking their MTs for my Wrangler a few years ago as they are a good looking tyre.

My went to see my local tyre dealer as they were listed as a stockist. When I asked about them they told me quite curtly that they refuse to sell them anymore. His comment was so terse I was expecting him to spit on the floor everytime he mentioned the name.

Apparently they had a lot of issues trying to balance them so I never bothered buying a set. I ended up buying Comforser MT3000s which they said balanced really easy.
