I'm with you on removing the heads. No point mucking around with band aids as you'd want it to be reliable in the bush, I mean mud.. lol!

Both have got 4.7L, which is why I was thinking about building up slowly a absolutely maxed out motor to swap out on the project car, then build another for the DD, then keep the original out of the DD as a spare.

That'd be the way to do it.

So much more relaxing, and subsequently enjoyable, to work on. I love going into the garage to play a bit, at my own leasure. Not having any time constraints due to being a DD.

I'm looking forward to taking mine apart soon.
