I'm thankful for all the input, but I've got too much going on tonight, from different directions, to reply to everyone in depth.

I keep reading all your replies and keep mulling it over, hence why I'm a bit vague in real life at the moment

Off to help my daughter with her algebra

X=b2 + c

X= (heat x 2) + heavy right foot

X= damaged 4.7

Thumbs up Update...

I replied to Grippy's question about where it's at with this in the WJ/G thread, so it's a good time to copy and paste my reply in here

Q. So how's the rebuild/swap going?

A. I haven't even had a chance to put it into my garage yet...still sitting there with camping gear in it

Between ongoing mods to a mate's car, helping my struggling daughter with maths and soon science, trying to catch up to the assignments I'm myself meant to be submitting for an online course in computer science (mastering C language and logic has overtaken all my spare thoughts for a bit. My brain is small), helping the missus with her new back injury around here, doing my trade to help pay bills, falling behind in home gardening and maintenance, myself being laid out crook for 2 days, birthday parties...

I've pretty well concluded (submitted to) we won't be going wheeling anytime soon, unless I choose the quickest path to getting it humming along again. Looks like rebuild existing 4.7, possibly supercharging if funds permit.

Diesel swaps, other V8/stroked 6 swaps aren't looking remotely possible at the moment.

Changing transmissions, transfer cases, drive shafts, ecm tcm's, shifter mechanisms, radiators, support crossmembers, misc brackets, exhaust systems, fuel pumps, electrics, is just farrrrrr too all consuming for little old me at the moment

In approx 10 days I'll start tearing it down. I think

Ah Hoobz, life gets in the way of having fun far too often!
Can't wait to see the progress once you get it underway, the Esky in the back of the rig will be fine by now with food in it 😨

Panicked me for a few seconds

But, I remembered removing all the food stuff was the first task carried out when we got home

I cannot remember ever being this committed to so many sensible life projects in my 45yrs. Uh oh getting old

The ole' TransAm method? At least I think that's how some of them came out. Oooo the plumbing required

I haven't had any time whatsoever to do any specific planning.

You got yours supercharged yes?
Can you get forged pistons for these 4.7's?
