Guy i bought parts off will sell a 95 ecu for $90 including post. I know the 97 is definitely different. If its the single plug style, it may work. If its OBD2, i don't think it will work...

Cheers,
if the 95 is obd2 it will work. the pcm connector is compleatly different between 95 obd1 and 95obd2

Default I took the big step

Hey Fellows,
I took the big step a day or 2 ago and bought a reco PCM, cost wasn't bad not good but not bad $500 that included postage.

I decided when I opened the one in the car and low and behold the capacitor had been leaking for some time and a heap of tracks on the circuit board are burnt or non existent.

I bought it from "Flagship One Inc" in New York, US. There was a bit of a doosey about the Vin# but they guaranteed me that it would be alright. And then I thought of what you guys said that the '96 has no skim or immobiliser and thought to myself, well that don't matter anyhow.

Before it gets here I am going to go over every damn wire in the car to make sure there's no shorts and all the sensors are ok. I know I've checked them but just to be sure. Hate the thought of plugging the new PCM in and it fries.
I was going change the O2 sensors anyway.

Funny, i have been looking all over the internet this morning about the Jeep ECU. Lots of guys repairing dry solder joints, capacitors etc... I was going to post up a few links but didn't think you would be into that.

Anyway, i am sure you have found your problem, and although not cheap, the new ECU should fix your woes. And besides that, all the work you have been doing on your Jeep should improve its reliability and performance.

Have you thought about doing your own repairs on your ECU and keeping it as a spare? or do you just want to ditch it.

Cheers,

Wreckers got back to me today and have a 200 ecu for sale (they sent me a pic) for $90 delivered.
Patrick is on Gumtree and has a bunch of stuff.
Always helpful, he is sending me an overhead console computer.
He sent me pics of his ECU's and has the 200 for a 96.
Go here if you need anything..
