I'm looking at replacing it with a Ranger or Colorado. Then I think of the $$$$$$ I have to find to swap over. That $$$$$$$ will pay a lot of repairs on the KK.
The thing is confidence is warring thin with the KK. A water pump left me stranded on the side of the highway on a Sunday 60ks from nowhere. A battery decided to quit on me. And my front brakes failed after only 71000k.
What to do?

Batteries are an item that you should consider replaceable every 2-3 years. Its life. Front brakes are easy to replace yourself for a few hundred bucks tops (it's a heavy chunk of metal to constantly bring to a stop or slow down and put better pads in, they will last a lot longer.
Factory pads are softer so the pedal is nice and soft for people who think they bought a Lexus/. I did my rears at about 60,000 odd k's. My fronts are due soon but easy to do in 1/2 an hour or so. Rears take longer of course with hand brake adjustments etc.
Water pumps are know to let go around 80,000-90,000 k's. I think newer ones are better life spans now or just reco the old one to save a few bucks.
The warning light thing I just went through as above post. Mine was the ABS module screwing with all the lights. Your's could be anything form a bad earth to a loose battery connection.... who knows until you pull the codes.
