The fuel economy (CRD) on my Cape Trip (7600kms round trip) worked out to be around 11.3L/100kms on average, with lows in the 8.5 to 9.7L per 100kms on the highway and highs of 14-14.5L per 100kms on the Old Telegraph Track and TIP sand track sectors (where there was alot of low range used). Most tanks on the Peninsula Development Road (Corrugation Highway) were around 10.5-11L/100kms. I was running my 255/70 Cooper STTs on the 16*8 Mambas with a full camping load and roof rack (with deflector). I am running GDE's ECO Tune engine management and transmission tune software, which does assist in achieving these figures. Tyre pressures were 25/25psi for the entire time on the Cape (off pavement), and 33/35psi on the highway. Speed? I am happy to lope along at 100kmph on the highway and that helps as well. On the serious tracks most people could run faster than we were travelling, but on the Peninsula Dev Road it was about 80kmph Max but corrugations play a big part in how fast anyone could go.

G'day all. Just got back to Bundy from Rockhampton (via 1770) thought I'd post some figures. The KJs a few thousand ks overdue for a service and had a mixture of 91 + 98 (half/half), overtook about 10 cars or so (flat to the floor!) and managed to pull 350kms out of the first half of a tank (78L)... 9l/100kms?? 3.7L. Most of it was highway driving with a bit of poking around 1770 and Agnes. Not bad i thought.
Cheers

Is that highway driving Prem? I reset the ecu a few months ago (disconnecting the battery etc) and seems to be doing alot better than when I first got her nearly a year ago now. Still better than my old 05 VZS tonner!

110kph from merimbula to melb last week and i was only getting 400km to a tank. Its because of the 255 70 16 tyres. Need to change diff gears to correct the excess fuel usage.

I would have been happy with 400kms, I was getting around 240km with the 31/10/15's and 4.10s,
Remember, if you are running a bigger tyre, your odometre reading is less than you actually travel, so sometimes you can be 5-8% better off than you think if you just go by the speedo reading,
