Default JK Cold Starting Issues.

I picked up my auto JK on Friday and everything was great until I went to leave work this morning and it wouldn't start, it was four degrees at the time and it was acting just like it had a dead battery. I tried it four or five times while checking it was in park etc and I would get all the right warning lights then nothing. I had one more go before looking for jumper leads and it started with the 'hot oil' error, as I said it was four degrees and it hadn't been running so I knew it was false and once I turned it off and on again the error went away with no problems since, I'll be talking to the dealer tomorrow but was curious if anyone here knew what would cause this? Looks like another cold one tonight so hopefully I won't have a repeat in the morning.

Sounds like an electrical issue for sure. Let us know what the dealer says?

I decided to test it a bit more before going back to the dealer in case of operator error and it happened yesterday morning, one again it was outside and the weather was cool but not really cold and without the hot oil warning. After two attempts I waited for all the warning lights to go out and it started so I'm starting to think I'm just rushing the key and not giving it a chance to do any self testing. I'll try it again in the morning and see if it does it after being under cover.

Latest update: The car still will not start first up in the morning without letting the dash lights go out and still getting HOT OIL messages as well as Check Engine lights and more recently Traction Control lights coming on. It is currently in at the dealer where they have to check EVERY electrical connection.

Will be interesting to hear if they actually find the problem or if it just goes away after some fiddling. I would take two guesses, one, if its a Rubi, the sway bar connector, or if not a rubi then prob a loose or bad earth connection.

Not a Rubi Seacoms but I did find the sheath had pulled back on some wiring under the bonnet, there was no exposed wiring but it wouldn't surprise me if there was a loose connection in there, they expect to have it for two days so hopefully I'll find outt omorrow and it will be fixed.

They have tracked the issue to a gearbox module and the part is on order, hopefully they are right and it will be fixed.

Having the same problem with my sons TJ.Changed the battery and you turn the key getting the warning lights and chimes then nothing. There is a light staying on in the top left hand corner but I have to find his manual to work out what the light is for. Any help would be great.

Regards Mike

Is his TJ an auto Mike? I have had the Hot Oil warning, check engine and traction control lights staying on. The module gets changed out on Monday but I haven't had an issue since the dealers had it last so I'm not sure if the module is the problem or not.
