This is the quote that concerns me

Belmont Golf Club general manager Greg Pearce said he understood the stretch of beach land their club owned would be included in the permit zone.

He said he was supportive of “anything that would preserve the dune area”.

“We actually had a meeting with the mayor because of damage being done and we wanted to have a permit system introduced,” he said.

Redhead resident Daryll Hadfield said he thought permits and rangers were a “step in the right direction”.

However, he said he was concerned hoons would be attracted toward the southern end of the beach which was not managed by the trust.

A section of stockton beach dunes are the only place in NSW that it is legal with a RVA permit to use unregistered vehicles but apparently this is in danger of being stopped also

Lucky Big Red isn't in NSW's. It would be bollarded off, speed limits set & access fees charged

You have an election in NSW, make the most of it. Pollies will agree to doing all sorts of things at the moment.

The authorities seem to look for any excuse to close off/restrict access to tracks/beaches etc but ignore the fact that extreme weather events and abnormal high tides associated with these events do more damage to beach dunes etc than 4wd's but because that's nature it's not an issue for them.
