Default No more test drives

Hi Gang

Just got told by the stealership that the 2019 WK2 won't hit our shores 'till May if at all, and that Jeep are switching everything to factory ordering so it's possible dealers won’t even get stock then.

WTF?

How in the heck are you supposed to test drive a new car?

Geez ....

Doesn't make sense. What does FCA say? Dealers are pretty clueless at any time, not that FCA is much better but they are one step closer to the source...

Sales have not been going well and switching to factory ordering models that should be in the fucking showroom won't help that at all. Dickheads.

Haha. Yeah, I’m sure they’ll sell heaps just based on their upstanding brand reputation...

Considering it takes them three months just to get spare parts here, the lead time on building and shipping every car to order would be enormous. If that’s really the plan, they might as well give up.

Ours custom build was ordered Aug 2015 and didn't arrive until couple of days before Christmas 2015.

I think all makes are bleeding in Aus, I heard Holden asked the Eurpean factory to stop making cars for the Australian market.
Over all a drop of 18% in sales, the yards are full, no point in getting more cars when you can't sell the ones you already have.
Apparently the dealership near where I live, is getting one car as a demo and isn't allowed to sell it.

Some manufacturers have certainly lost the plot, seems they're unable to read the market or understand marketing. Re-badging an Opel Insignia as the 'New' Commodore was never going to work. No one wants large sedans any more, and even the remaining die-hard Commodore faithful aren't fooled by the FWD Opel being a credible replacement. I drove the Insignia in Europe a couple years back and it's a damn good car, GM should have said RIP Commodore and marketed Insignia for what it is. At least Ford did that with the equally excellent Mondeo rather than pretend it's a Falcon.

Now Jeep seems to have slipped into sales & marketing ineptitude!

I had heard that the rules regarding demo or dealer registered cars is being tightened so maybe that's a contributing factor.

Don't mind the factory order wait time but buggered if I know how they are going to sell cars if potential customers can't look at one or better still have a test drive. We only have two dealerships here in Adelaide so it's clearly a pretty small market and so this approach might be localised and the bigger markets on the east coast will fare better.

Huge leap of faith though to spend over $80k on a car you can't even look at beforehand .....
