Default Sugarloaf Trail?

Have any of you guys driven this trail? I remember last time we were at Winchbreak Pass we ran into some guys at the Newcastle Landrovers club, and they mentioned that it's a pretty good trail.

I wouldn't mind doing a trip up there in late August or early September, but I need info on exactly where it is, and what to expect.

The guy we ran into said they'd be happy to take some of the SJC guys on a trip along that trail, but I can't remember his name. I was looking on their website, as he is someone on their committee, but they don't list their committee members.

I have done this one about 8 or more years ago when I lived in Newcastle. Can not remember enough to get back into that area without plenty of maps or a good guide.

It was a good track then but I think you may find it will be closed at this time of year as it snow's on the peaks in a real cold winter. and can be very muddy so the forestry like to lock it up to prvent damage then reopen it when dry

Hmmm....

I'm looking for a trail in the lower Newcastle to Gosford area (other than Stockton) to take a bunch of Novacastrians who have never been 4-wheeling. I was going to take them to the Watagans, but not now after the other day.

Any ideas???

ZigZag railway is probably the easiest trail around IMO. Although it's not really in the area you're looking for.

Failing that, I've got that '4WD trails close to Sydney' book that I bought that basically has D grade 4WD trails within 1-2 hours drive of Sydney.

Hey Chris, that trail we did the other day would be perfect in drier conditions. Just the rain turned it to a killer.

Maybe chook will know seeing she is a local.
