I'll look into that, great shout, never even thought about getting the alignment from a steering joint..

I bought a set of 5 x LT 265/60R18 Maxxis Razors AT811 for my JGC Overland MY14 about 3 weeks ago, Although they are still an A/T tyre, they have a chunkier aggressive tread on them as they are a hybrid compared to the A/T RF10's that I had previously. At least these are available in the LT construction in my size which my previous RF10's weren't and the only RF10's that were LT's were 286/60R18, which meant they wouldn't fit in the wheel well, so I went with these ones. Paid $320/tyres fitted and balanced at Grand Prix Mazda in Caboolture as they are a Maxxis dealer, after I got home I paid the $20 extra to get the Maxcoverage Insurance direct from Maxxis.

Only done a couple of thousand Km's on them so far (all on the bitumen, wet and dry) but overall I am quite happy with them. It took a while for them to settle in though. When I first drove on them, the car would lean into the corners much more which was a bit off putting and the road bumps were much more noticeable (40PSI). They also produced more road noise (7/10) than the RF10's made, and I started to question my choice of tyres.

However now that I have done a couple of thousands Km's, the car has lost the corner lean, the bumps aren't as pronounced and road noise has quietened down too (9/10). Fuel consumption doesn't seem to have increased either.

Never had tyres that needed to have a break in period!
So as I said before, quite happy with them now.

Cheers
Ed.

Will do, although they won't be driven on gravel roads till after this X'mas when hopefully the missus will retire and we will start travelling around the countryside towing something. At least that is the plan!

Being a LT hybrid cross between an A/T and a M/T, I can't see them having any issues.

Cheers

The deeper the tread with bigger gaps the tyre will tend to walk a bit on sealed roads for awhile, can be scary at times as you never know if it will under or over steer untill they bed in and you get the feel............... Unless your going to be doing a lot of low and slow rock work really chunky tyres aren't really needed just a mildly aggressive AT will cover everything especially when towing, the chunkier tread will tend to walk a bit towing a big rig into bends with speed.....

Don't want to sound too negative, but tyres that need to 'bed in' before they can perform satisfactorily would concern me. I also share Drover's view re. towing, if those tyres start fighting with your sway control it will be the polar opposite of what you need with a decent size trailer on your tail. Steady as she goes...

Yep, it did concern me as well as. At the time I didn't have a load on the back, it was just the empty jeep, but now it seems that they are back to "normal" handling. They weren't bad as such but just noticed an increase in body lean compared to the older RF10's as I went into a corner.

Having said all that I will still be keeping an eye on them as I also have never had a tyre that needed to be "run in". Might have to hitch the 2T boat up and take it for a spin to see how it handles. But otherwise now they seem quite good.
