I had the 694's on the previous 4WD and when I bought the Jeep I drove straight to Bob Janes and swapped the Michelins for 697's.

I'm happy with them so far.

Cheers

I've had the Bridgestones on for 15,000 k's now. Great so far both on and off road, obviously a bit noisier than the standard crap Kuhmos I took off due to AT tread.

Really like the Dick Cepek FC11's. Pro's - hybryd AT/MT, so sits between being a basic AT but not as aggressive as a MT. Con's - limited dealers. In our size, it only has 2ply sidewalls. Price -$500ea inc F&B.
Trying to get a better deal on the DC's for a set of 5. Will let you know how I go. Update - couldn't get any better price on these and also according to the specs, they're not a LT construct in our size. Only some of them are rated SLT.

Had a chat with the guys at the BF Goodridge stand at the Melbourne 4x4 show yesterday and they have a 265/65R18 in the ATKO which is a slightly more agressive tread. Anyone got any feedback on these as I think this would also fit the spare rim.

M/T and Cooper come out of the same factory, same warranty, same compounds, different tread patterns.
This was blatently obvious at the 4x4 show over the weekend with the M/T stand directly in front of us. They had a couple of very large posters compairing wet and dry grip with the MTZ versus the other major mud tyres on the market and the times around a slalom course and a set track.
Obviously the MTZ came out on top, but why wasn't the Cooper STT or ST compared?

I have heard so many horror stories of people's Cooper tyres turning wet roads into ice rinks when they are 1/3 - 1/2 worn down. The President of our club, MJOC, has them on his XJ and he's said they are dangerous on the road in the wet.

The Yokohama is the "sleeper" of the pack. They self clean very well, great grip in all surfaces, very good tread life, little if any noise and unlike BFG, Cooper, M/T and any other brands that I know of they're the only oness that warranty against side wall stakes and damage on or off road.

Default WK2 Off Road Tyres

Thnx Tim, great feedback. Have to admit I was sold on the Yoko's until I went into Mt Disappointment the other weekend in an 80series with them on. I know that mud in that area is a little challenging and we have had a lot of rain, but the Yoko's really struggled with traction and cleanout even with reduced pressure. This is compared to 4 other trucks that had other tyres and AT or MT types. I know this is going to be an issue with many tyres and designs, it's just a case of pick with with the most pro's.

Think this round I'm just going to have to pick the best of what's available in my budget and hope that next time round the 18" range is a little more extensive by then.

I spoke to a guy that's part of the Wangaratta 4WD club this morning and He's done a lot of high country work and most of Oz and is very happy with the BFG ATKO's. On his 4th set. The other advantage is that these come in 265/65/18, where all of the MT's come in 275/65/18. While I'm all for getting that extra bit of height, and I know from this forum that the 275's will fit, the space under the Wheel arch and steering is very tight.

Is there anyone using the Bridgestone D697 265/60 !8 rather than the 65 series as I want to keep to OEM size and not infringe on roadworthy in Vic??

From what i read if you go to 65 series it is not roadworthy as its greater than 15mm OD.
Already had a run in with some Vicroads over eager officers in my standard vehicle and it wasn't fun for me...

Any advice ??
