Default current jeep scene

I've been away from jeeping for a while, I sold the Xj but still have the cj and the tj in moth balls. Im working to get the tj back on the road and have been getting parts from various distributors. One thing I've noticed is the lack of second hand gear or locally supplied new gear eg. rear bumper and tire carrier for a tj, so much so that im considering buying one the amazon.
I guess my main concern is the lack of chatter or discussion locally since covid. Apart from Ausjeep there doesn't appear to be much of a local scene. am i just not in the loop? I hardly see any Tjs or Xjs on the road. i hayent seen a cj in years. I see the odd jk but most are just mall crawlers. What does anyone think?

They probably reached the collectible club rego age which often means enthusiasts start to horde their spares

I am much the same.

I wonder if Charleton Heston had an XJ...

Also, what Wolfe said: "I guess my main concern is the lack of chatter or discussion locally since covid. I do see some XJs around but they are few and far between in my area and I may see 1 on average each week in my 50km/day round trip travel. They are definitely "sometimes" vehicles just like mine, which is in excellent running order, still has great power uphill, on the freeways and surprises people who think it is being driven by a very mature driver. I do occasionally see some very rare update versions in mint condition. But the majority of pre-updates that I see are the ones with the faded/stripped/dull body paint, platform racks and they are usually packed with tradie equipment, ladders, or just camping equipment doing their typical utilitarian duty. They do not have lifts or big tyres and look mainly stock.

My XJ is not a DD because of its obvious age and lack of availability of local parts. I usually order parts from Rock Auto and others if things look like they need a refresh. e.g. a new coolant bottle, battery tray etc.

I am planning a large half-lap of Oz somewhere between 1-2 years from now and I only reserve its use for travel to Sydney because it's much easier to park and drive through heavy traffic.

I see heaps of JK/Us, JLUs and some Gladiators on the road, many WKs, some KKs, but fewer KJs. The Commander is reclusive but there is a 5.7L somewhere around me doing what appears to be tradie duty.

I'm in the process of puting my TJ back together after a paint job.
Stripped it down a year ago and long story short it sat in the garage for 12 months before being being resprayed.
Now I'm putting everything back on and trying to give it a freshen up with some new parts but so many parts that used to be readily available (OEM and aftermarket) are now difficult if not impossible to find.
People with the newer models - especially the JLs and JTs, seem to be spoiled for choice just like TJ and XJ drivers were a few years ago.
