Thumbs down Floating Earth - brake lights

hi fellas,
Sorry for putting this here but i'm not getting much help in the TJ section.
I'm also not an auto electrician so i'm in need of some basic help.

last week installed Euro light guard cages from Quadratec out of the USA. since then i've had problems with my brake light arrays but only when the parking and head lights are on.

parkers / headlights on
left indicator makes all kinds of lights go on, on both sides, flip upside down and reverse lights blink sometimes.

The cables are fine, all globes are fine, no wiring has been changed however the euro brackets have about a 4mm foam buffer pad so nothing gets scratched during instillation. i think this may be where the issue is, no contact metal to metal.

has anyone had this problem? or know how to tweak it?

i have an idea but i'd like to hear your thoughts.
thanks lads

I have had similar problems before.I am thinking what it could be is when you take off the lense there is two steel plates seperating the globes. The wiring for the globes run down each side of the taillight assembly. The steel plates have the corners notched out of them to make way for the wires,If these are put in the wrong way (which is easy to do) it pinchs the wires, causing the problems that you are talking about.

thanks mate,
i just pulled the lens covers off, none of the wires are pinched or under any pressure at all inside. i'm kindof leaning towards the cables out the back face that are hanging loose under the panels. there is an insulated cover and the plug only goes in one way. as i said though, i didnt change anything and things are connected properly... the only difference is now there's a metal insulated outer cover between the light console and the body.

stumped

Make sure you bolt the earth lead back on when you bolt the tail light assy back to the body. It's only in one side light. (right from memory)
Cheers mate
