Default Simple TJ Rear Bumper

Hi guys,

Introduced myself in the O/S page, I am working in Dubai and come home to Oz about once a year. Like the looks of this place, lots of good stuff going on.

I made this rear bumper for my 2005 TJ. It is not a fancy swing-away type that others have posted on here.

The shackle plates go through the 125x75 angle that is the main crossmember, and bolt up to the chassis.

Bumper is really dirty because Jeep parks outside and it doesn't get cleaned so often.

Those with a keen eye will see that i was playing with photoshop to see if I could hide the dent I have put in the tub. Didn't do a very good job.

Cheers,

Mick

Looks really clean and nice. Good work. Do you not need rear license plate lights in Dubai?

You can do a similar front one to match.

Thanks for the comments. Wasn't until after I finished it that I noticed the rear door has sunk, it doesn't close properly now unless you lift it up a bit. PITA. Now I want a fancy swing a way like Steve F is making.

Technically you should have licence plate lights in Dubai, but things are not so strict here sometimes. The guy at rego wasn't going to pass the steel bumper, he said it is not safe on the road. I told him the Jeep was only for desert driving, and showed him all my recovery gear in the back. He passed me

You can make up a carrier and bolt on top or weld it as an addition. Many designs are available on the net that you can be inspired from. Something like this perhaps:
