Hairline Crack

I have found a Hairline crack about 1/2 inch long running along the top of my top radiator tank in my TJ.

Does anyone know how I can fix it, or what a good replacement radiator would be. My local shop wants to charge 500+ to supply and fit a new tank but I can do it myself.

I used Selleys epoxy putty to repair a similar split in a plastic top tank, had it on for about 20k before I sold the car with no issues. Just check the heat rating on the brand you buy, and prep the surface well.

If your planning on keeping it or going offroad, then don't muck about by a new one.
Honestly, you'll spend so much time stuffing around you'll regret it.

I would go with an Adrad as the quality seems reasonable for the price. Mine was just under 300 delivered. Search on the forum, others import Mopar and some bring in LHD radiators and swap the brackets over. Using Adrad is not the cheapest, but it's simple. When you have fitted the rad, move the steering lock to lock on the ground and check all moving part clearances.

Don't buy an all aluminium ebay unit, the quality is inconsistent. They look great and the cooling capacity is bigger, but they are not well put together and they leak after a couple of months in my experience.

Flush the system.

Its not a big job, you'll save yourself a couple of hundred.

Yes, a replacement radiator is the right solution.
If you really don't have the cash though, empty the coolant system, clean the area thoroughly, rough up the area with emery cloth and use JB Weld - that will fix it. Do a couple of coats - leave 24hrs between.
