Default Oil filter adapter

So what's the go at getting the oil filter adapter off?? I just broke a 12" long 10mm Sidchrome ringy trying to turn the T55 Torx bit. Somebody said to give it to a mechanic to fix but that sounds a bit defeatist. '98 petrol.

Get a solid t55 torx bit & weld it into a 19 or 21mm nut so you can get a matching sized ring spanner onto it , or lower the drivers side off the engine mount so you can get a socket & bar onto it

Thanks guys. I'll try the welding a nut trick first, I've got some 400mm ringys here that might work.
