It's Queensland! Sunny one perfect the next! Oh, then pissing down just for the hell of it.

Personally I love Lake Mackenzie (crystal clear perched lake) and the Champagne pools. There is also a walk I would like to do next time - The Valley of the Giants from memory. Massive trees.

Jave also been told lake Birrabeen is well worth a look but haven't beem there myself.

How long are you staying and whereabouts?

Hi SeaComms

Thanks for the info. We are hoping to camp for 2 weeks weather permitting. I have heard that it can be very windy in the summer months

Birrabeen is the goods if you go at a busy time. We got a park right next to the access track during Christmas. Would have been no more than 20 people there on 100m of shore / sand. Would have been hundreds more at Mackenzie.

2 weeks - nice

Wouldnt say it was overly windy in Summer on average but you do get the summer storms on regular basis. The only prob with Fraser a lot of first time visitors don't realise is hiw long it takes to get places, especially via the inland tracks. Tracks are soft and rutted in most places with average speeds of 20 to 30kmh. Tracks to the more popular destinations are also more rutted as the tour buses use them. When camping I prefer to stay at Eurong or further north to keep central so travel is not to bad. Track over to the west side to Kingfisher were the worst last time I was there though there is not much on that side to see. We made the mistake of staying at Kingfisher... beautiful place to stay and has restaurants and booze etc but takes a good 45min to get to the east side every time where all the spots you want to visit are!
