Death Wobbles
Hey folks,
Got death wobbles today on the highway, the moment I hit 80kmh it would start and get worse the faster I would go.
What are the main causes of death wobbles? and what should I be looking for?
my XJ has a 2 inch lift and runs 225/75 road tyres.
Cheers

Hey Dudzy, plenty of info on this, even if not specifically for the XJ, that will point you in the right directions.
Basically, start with bolts done up to correct tensions, if all good move on to track bar bushes and brackets, control arms bushes, ball joints etc..

More than likely the panhard Dudzy. I would remove it, bracket and all and check it for wear particularly around the top mount under the guard near the coil. I fixed mine and that rid me of DWs.

It depends on how bad the wobbles are, is it a light shaking or is a violent almost jump off the road sensation.
If it is a light shake it could be wheel weights, if it is violent then something is loose, as mentioned above it could be the panhard or a ball joint etc....

Replacing the damper fixed mine. Ask around for a good brand.
