I'm looking at getting a cheap open top canoe for fishing. For me and me ol' mate Blue.
I'm a bit nervous about a those kayaks. Falling off or losing gear??

cheers

Sit on top kayaks are more stable than canoes imo bruggz, and as far as your gear goes you will want lanyards with either.

We have a 3.3m and a 4.2m kayak and used to get out quite a bit but we sold the car with the roofrack so we'll need to wait until I find the right one for the Jeep.

I have a few flat water kayaks,
The best being a K2 that has 2 extra port holes. One of the port holes takes 2 eskies, the other an esky & a barrel or the dog goes in there.A barrel fits nicely down in the nose.
We have done trips up to 10 days.
There is a good 6 day run on the Snowy river & can do as long as you like on the Murray below Hume or the Goulburn below Eildon ~ not much good to you northerners.
Was planning on a 2 week trip in the Macquarie Marshes in NSW but it dried up in the drought. Cant do it at moment because of shoulder/neck problem.
Get yourself some 60ltr barrels to carry your gear, they keep stuff nice & dry.
I was planning on getting a solar panel & a deep cycle battery & hooking up to a wiper motor with a prop. Should work well on flat water.
