Shock Absorbers

Can you Guy's tell me the difference between Hydro and Nitro Shocks?

And I know the old saying you get what you pay for, but are the cheaper shocks OK. I see Estores in the USA have Skyjacker and other brands of shocks from USD$30.00. Are they OK.

Any advice would be apprecated.

Nitro shock use gas inside them and hydro uses oil. I've found the the Hydro shocks give a rougher ride. cheaper shocks will do the job but wont be as smooth as a ride with a better shocky

They both use oil for damping but the nitro shocks also use pressurised nitrogen to prevent the oil from foaming.This means they tend to resist fading & give a more consistent ride.
A mate has skyjacker nitros on his JK & is happy with them.
