Default Fraser Island (QLD) & Yerranderei tracks (NSW)

I'm heading to gold coast in mid nov, I'm planning to do some offroading in Fraser Island (QLD) & Yerranderei tracks (NSW). I never been there before so ;

Are both tracks suitable for stock XJ ?
is it dangerous if you trip alone (not in convoy)?
Do I really need to get recovery kit, airbag jag and hand winches ? so far I only bring compressor, shovels and tyre deflators
any other tips guys ?

Thank's for the help

Fraser is not hard!

but you should carry at least a long handled shovel, snatch strap couple of shackles and ensure that you have rated recovery points.

You may drag your bum around on some of the inland tracks, but unless you venture into the unknown (ie up north or off the main touristy areas you should be fine.

You do realise that it's close on 4 hours from the Gold Coast to Fraser don't you!!

Yerranderie would be a easy drive in a stock XJ, a bit steep in places (bit more interesting if wet). The only other possible problem is the Kowmung river crossing, it can be impassible after heavy rain (NOT likely!). There are lots of tracks in the area, the most commonly driven is from caves to caves (Jenolan caves <-> Wombeyan caves). Would be ok solo but its a bit remote so self recoverability would be recomended if doing so. Numerous great camping sites at Wombeyan, Limeburners flat, Dingo Dell and Yerranderie.

I did most of Fraser back in 2001 with a stock TJ, had absolutely no troubles at all.

I will be on Fraser at about the same time, keep an eye out for a black TJ with a big Ausjeep sticker on the windscreen...

I did Fraser last Christmas/New Year, great fun in my XJ and quite easy. I'll also be up there mid/end November but I'll be coming in from Hervey Bay as I'm staying at the King Fisher Bay Resort this time. Regardless keep an eye out for my green XJ with tyre carrier.

Cheers
