As posted by BennO the non QL vehicles in Aus get the Nivomat self levelling shocks.
They pump themselves up by a system that uses the shock absorber movement when moving to create oil pressure inside the shock. This pressure relocates oil by valves in the internal chambers of the shock. The relocation can change the operating height.
They won't/can't pump till the vehicle is moving - then they do their job.
For further information Google Nivomat.

Thanks heaps John.... and Benn0,
So once you are moving and the vehicle levels itself out, does it then stay level when you stop the vehicle?
BTW : I will google Nivomat.
Cheers, Craig

Just googled Nivomat and answered my own question.
The Nivomat relies on movement to self level. When the vehicle stops, the rear end will then settle back to where it was.
Cheers and thanks again for your replies, Craig

Yeah, I don't mean the tow bar. In the US you can buy the GC with or without the towing package. If you order the towing package it includes a bigger alternator (220 amp), upgraded cooling, steel spare wheel, and the SLS shocks. In Australia we get the tow package by default with these features, even though we don't get the actual hitch.
I'd be surprised if any Oz car had the standard shocks that aren't SLS (excluding the air suspension models of course), but I could be wrong.

I just came across this old thread when googling for info on self levelling shocks for the WK. Is it safe to assume all non-air suspension vehicles are equipped with these 'nivomats'
If not I need to know what to look for when choosing my next Jeep.
