The Nivomats work really well.
I tow three times a week on average lately. Anything from 1 - 2 1/2 ton. Sits at normal height and handling doesn't alter.

Cheers, Craig

Good to know, thanks. Next question: how do they work with raised hight springs? Are they retained or replaced?

My understanding from the brochure is that the Limited has Nivomat style shock absorbers but not the Laredo. They will handle a load of up to 280kg on the rear and thereafter sag. I think that FCA have sourced the shock from a cheaper supplier - Nivomat are a legacy of the Daimler/Chrysler era.

I got the impression all CRD models (not including air suspension of course) have the self levelling shocks as part of the tow pack which is standard.
Regardless, I'm not sure what you meant by your comment about FCA sourcing stock.

FCA buy (source) their shocks from a company that makes a Nivomat style shock - not the actual German Nivomat.
